Isaac Bardavid dead - Wolverine voice actor dies at 91 as Hugh Jackman pays tribute

Wolverine voice actor Isaac Bardavid has died and Hugh Jackman has paid tribute to the "legend".

The famous voice-over artist passed away on February 1 at the age of 91 following a long bout of emphysema, Bardavid's grandson has confirmed. The actor - who hails from Brazil - was rushed into hospital on January 26 as he battled with low oxygen levels.

Confirming his grandfather's sad passing, his grandson said: "The disease was insisting on keeping the oxygenation very low, even though he was using the devices he already has at home."

Hugh Jackman, who played Wolverine in the X-Men movies, led tributes for the actor.

"Isaac Bardavid. What a legend. What a life and legacy. What a voice!! #Wolverine #Brazil...Rest well my friend," he wrote alongside a video of him and Bardavid together on Instagram.

Fans also rushed to the comment section to pay tribute to Bardavid.

"Isaac is a legend!" one wrote, whilst a second added: "This was very sad news indeed. Condolences to Isaac’s family."

A third shared: "I'm heart broken, thank you for posting this in his honour Hugh. Brazil loves both of you."

"THANK YOU, HUGH! This mean a lot for those who grown hearing what you said by his voice," a fourth wrote.

His sad passing was confirmed by his family with a post on social media, who opened the post with a poignant message that read in Portuguese: "If I know the crown well, he would say like this: Take care of life, my son!"

They went on to pay tribute to Isaac for "always making others smile" and laugh with his jokes and for always being happy. They said he "had been wondering for some time why he was still alive" as sadly a lot of his friends had been passing away recently.

According to his family, he had said he was very sad and didn't understand why others were dying before him, especially if they were younger than he was.

Concluding their statement, they added: "Questions aside, Isaac is gone, but his works will remain there, his voice is immortal as long as you remember him. Those who like reading can also have it with their books.

"His second book is due to be finished in February. It's sad to hear that he didn't see his second book finished. As it was his favourite project, I didn't even get into the choices, but some things were still undecided, so I'll take the reins of the book project so I can finalize the outstanding issues and give you more details."

"A kiss to all and may you have enough health to be able to run after your happiness," they shared as a final note.
