Is your big TV break beckoning? Local casting call for 'authentic' Aussies

It's where Paul Hogan, Russell Crowe, Naomi Watts and Cate Blanchett all launched their stellar Hollywood careers.

And now that same opportunity is dropping into a paddock near Goulburn very soon.

On behalf of a production company, Sydney's reputable i4casting has made the call-out for "authentic" local Aussies with no previous acting experience who can fill a range of roles for a new ute commercial to be shot at a secret location near Goulburn next month.

They are seeking people aged between 20 to 75 for roles which could pay up to $8000.

The identity of the car brand is a secret, as is the production company engaged to deliver the big budget advertisement.

But the requirement for various role-players is urgent and imminent, with the ad to be shot in September and then go into post-production shortly after.

The i4 Casting callout hit social media on Wednesday. Members of the public keen to get involved have just 24 hours to shoot a short video of themselves and send it through to the casting company.

Joe Wijangco, a co-director at i4, said they are looking for men and women to fill a variety of roles including "rugged workers and country residents", farmers, tradies, "general bushies", mechanics, "tow truck drivers, farmhands, etc".

The only requirement is to be able to travel to Goulburn.

The reason to reach out for local talent in the Goulburn-Yass-Southern Tablelands area was to seek some "authentic faces".

"We do call-outs on a reasonably regular basis but this type of local call-out on social media is a little unusual."

He was careful not to be too definitive about the type of people they were looking for.

"There's obviously certain roles that need filling but we don't want to be too prescriptive because we don't want to put someone off who thinks 'oh, that's not really me'."
