Liverpool Empire had to cancel Monday night’s performance of the musical We Will Rock You only a few hours before it was due to begin.
The theatre posted the announcement on Facebook, explaining that they had to cancel last night's performance due to a “mechanical issue”. The full statement released by the Liverpool Empire said: “Due to a mechanical issue encountered at the theatre during the set-up of the show, tonight’s performance of We Will Rock You at the Liverpool Empire is unable to go ahead.
“If you have a booking for this evening’s performance, you do not need to do anything. Customers will be automatically issued with a full credit voucher, which is valid to use on this and future shows.
"An additional performance of We Will Rock You has been scheduled for Friday 18th March at 2.30pm. Bookings can be made via atgtickets.com/Liverpool.”
Many people were left disappointed by the news, with some not knowing about the cancellation until they arrived at the theatre, according to the comments section beneath Liverpool Empire’s Facebook post.
We Will Rock You is showing at the Empire throughout this week, so those with tickets may be concerned that other performances could be affected by the mechanical issue. However, speaking of tonight’s (Tuesday, March 15) show, a spokesperson for the Liverpool Empire said: “Tonight’s performance of We Will Rock You is due to go ahead as planned.”
