NEW DELHI: The world has been rocked by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine since February 24. The sporting fraternity hasn’t been oblivious from it, and the war has evoked several reactions. From international federations banning Russia to compete at the global level, to even Russian athletes coming out to voice their ‘no to war’ plea.
World No. 1 tennis player Daniil Medvedev, chess wizard Garry Kasparov and other Russian sports personalities have urged their country to exercise restraint and cease the war on Ukraine. Andrey Rublev, after winning his semifinal encounter at the Dubai Tennis Championships, wrote ‘No War Please’ on the camera lens to make his message spread amid the crisis.
