Is this what playing on PS6 will be like? Cyberpunk 2077 finally has a dedicated PS5 Pro patch and it's the best looking console version to date

The Cyberpunk 2077 PS5 Pro version with enhanced ray-traced reflections on a damp street.

  • Cyberpunk 2077 finally has a PlayStation 5 Pro version
  • It includes loads of high-end graphics options, including new ray-tracing tech
  • It is intended to "make the most of the PS5 Pro’s cutting-edge technology" says the developer

Developer CD Projekt Red has finally released a dedicated PlayStation 5 Pro update for its blockbuster role-playing game (RPG) Cyberpunk 2077.

It's free for owners of the game playing on Sony's most powerful console and, according to global art director Kuba Knapik, is intended to "make the most of the PS5 Pro’s cutting-edge technology."

As detailed in the official PlayStation Blog post, major enhancements such as new lighting technology that introduces upgraded ray-traced lighting, shadows, and reflections bring the game's world to life like never before.

Three graphics presets allow PS5 Pro players to fine-tune their experience, too. There's the flagship Ray Tracing Pro mode, which cranks up all of the visuals while targeting a 30fps frame rate. This increases to 40fps for those with a compatible variable refresh rate (VRR) display.

It looks simply incredible in action, with a level of detail and fidelity that truly feels "next-gen" and comparable to a high-end gaming PC. With the latest rumors that PlayStation 6 could release in 2028 or 2029, this level of graphical excellence may very well give us our first taste of what Sony's next major console will offer on day one.

For those craving a much smoother frame rate, Performance mode will now hit up to 90fps on compatible VRR displays at the expense of some of that lovely lighting. The final option, Ray Tracing mode, is intended to be more of a middle ground with a 60fps target framerate and a handful of the new ray-tracing features enabled.

Cyberpunk 2077 is also currently available as part of the PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium tiers' Games Catalog, letting you pick it up at no extra cost if you're a subscriber with a PS5 Pro that wants to dive into this new update right now.
