The comments on my Instagram feed really said it all. “Next level”, “That view, that pool!”, “What perfection”, “Looks like the set of a James Bond movie…”And it did. It very much did.
Before I travelled to Mantis Hiddn, on the edge of Addo Elephant National Park, near Port Elizabeth in South Africa, I had never heard of it, and I doubt you had either. Why? Because it’s brand spanking new, that’s why, but I can guarantee that this new addition to the Mantis Collection of hotels is going to be a raging success. About a year ago, my wife and I were asked if we wanted to try out a new safari lodge which was opening in the spring of ’26, and as she has been in love with Africa since she lived there in her twenties — spending her time organising trips on the Zambezi, directing nature films and crewing a flying boat — we said yes.
