"Is this a reason to kill someone?": Ketan Agarwal Pune murder case takes a shocking turn as 'wig' angle emerges

The Ketan Agarwal Pune murder case has taken a shocking turn after a new angle has emerged in the investigation into the realtor's murder. Reacting to reports that Ketan’s use of a hair patch may have been one of the reasons behind tensions in his relationship with fiancée Siya Goyal, the grieving father Vishal Agarwal said the matter was never hidden from her family and could never justify such a brutal crime.

"We had cleared to them (Siya Goyal's family) that Ketan used a small patch of wig on his head. Is this a reason to kill someone? As per my information, Siya wanted to go on the trek," he was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.

What police said on Ketan Agarwal's 'wig' angle

As discussions around the motive continue, a police source told PTI: “It was true that Agarwal wore a wig, but it could not be said that it was the sole reason Siya did not like him.”

Investigators have not officially identified the wig issue as the primary motive and are continuing to examine all aspects of the relationship.

Ketan Agarwal’s father meets Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis

On Friday, Ketan Agarwal’s father, Vishal Agarwal, met Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and sought the strictest possible punishment for those accused of killing his son.

Speaking after the meeting, Vishal Agarwal said he urged the chief minister to ensure that the accused receive the death penalty.

According to him, Fadnavis assured the family that the case would be fast-tracked. He also said he was informed that a Special Investigation Team (SIT) had been formed to handle the case.

“I have urged the CM that the accused should at least get the death penalty. The CM assured me that this case will be fast-tracked. I have been told that an SIT has been formed in the case," he said.

Reacting to the case, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis called the incident deeply disturbing.

“This is an extremely shocking incident, something beyond imagination. It is the kind of incident that compels us, as a society, to seriously reflect. Why do children from educated and well-settled families develop such malicious and destructive thinking? What are the reasons behind this mindset? We need to think deeply about it.”

Police reveal alleged conspiracy and ‘signal’ in Ketan Agarwal murder

According to investigators, Siya Goyal and co-accused Chetan Chaudhary initially attempted to shift blame onto each other during questioning.

A police officer involved in the probe said: “Initially, both tried to shift the blame onto each other, which is a common tendency among criminals during interrogation. However, Siya eventually admitted that she hatched the conspiracy and Chetan was also involved in the planning.”

Police claim the accused had worked out a signal before reaching Lohagad Fort. According to investigators, Siya was to sit down at a pre-decided moment, after which Chaudhary would allegedly push Ketan off the cliff at the Fort.

Another officer said: “They have told us what happened and how it happened. Ketan had no idea what was coming. He was pushed into the gorge before he realised anything.”

Why not elope?

One of the most startling claims to emerge from the investigation concerns the motive behind the alleged murder plot. A police official said: “They said eloping would have brought disrepute to their families.”

Investigators alleged that the accused decided against running away together and instead conspired to eliminate Ketan.

Siya’s father: ‘Ketan was like a son to me’

The tragedy has devastated both families, especially because Ketan and Siya were reportedly set to marry in November in Udaipur.

Speaking about the loss, Siya Goyal's father said: “Ketan was like a son to me, and the loss had shattered both our families. We were eagerly preparing for the wedding.”

He added: “Whatever has happened is deeply tragic. Even today we cannot bring ourselves to believe it.”

Rejecting claims that his family knew about problems in the relationship, he said they had no knowledge of any alleged relationship involving another person and insisted that Siya always appeared happy about the upcoming marriage.
