Jaylen Brown has had an inconsistent start to the season. The All-Star wing has flitted between being an elite-scorer and a virtual spectator on multiple occasions. However, the Boston Celtics have still been one of the most dominant teams in the NBA, boasting a 7-2 record on the season.
Nevertheless, the noise surrounding Brown’s performance level has been deafening. Since Marcus Smart was traded to the Memphis Grizzlies, Brown has emerged as the most controversial member of the Celtics roster. You either love or want Brad Stevens to trade him as soon as possible. Part of the problem is that Brown signed a $304 million supermax contract extension, and now, expectations are through the roof.
In the latest Green With Envy podcast episode, hosts Adam Taylor and Greg Maneikis discuss whether Brown deserves the non-stop criticism being sent his way or whether it’s begun to go overboard. The duo looks at his impact metrics on the season thus far, and they discuss the roles he’s being asked to play throughout each game.
