Many events all across the United Kingdom were put on the back burner today, with a bank holiday coming into force to mark the state funeral of Her Majesty the Queen.
Queen Elizabeth II passed away at her residence of Balmoral Castle, Aberdeenshire, on September 8 - after her private doctors became increasingly concerned for her health. The news stunned the world, and sunk the United Kingdom itself into a period of national mourning.
As such, a number of scheduled events were either rescheduled or cancelled completely - with a number of businesses also choosing to close their doors to the general public over the course of today, to allow employees to pay their respects to the UK's longest-ever reigning monarch of 70 years.
