Like a fine wine, Pittsburgh Steelers defensive tackle Cam Heyward seems to just get better with age. Heyward is coming off of a 2022 season where he had 10.5 sacks, 74 tackles and 14 tackles for loss. This is a follow-up to 2021 when he had 10.0 sacks, 89 tackles and 15 tackles for loss.
NFL reporter Dave Dameshek asked Heyward if he thinks he is headed to the Pro Football Hall of Fame and if that is a goal and Heyward was honest that he believes he is.
“I do,” Heyward said. “I think I’m on track. I’m not running away from that. My goal is to one day have a Super Bowl and be able to say I’m in the Hall of Fame.”
Heyward is heading into his 13th NFL season and even though he will turn 34 before the start of next season shows no signs of slowing down. For his career, Heyward has played in 183 games with 148 starts. Heyward is currently No. 2 on the Steelers franchise sack leaderboard with 78.5 He’s one sack ahead of teammate T.J. Watt and should easily overtake James Harrison’s 80.5 career sacks next season.
