Is scorching weather about to arrive in Ireland? Met Eireann's 30-day forecast has one great week

Met Eireann's long range forecast predicts one lovely week just around the corner as temperatures jump as high as 17C.

There is however a warning from the national forecaster that "extremes of weather cannot be ruled out at this time of year".

But indications are that warmer conditions are set to make their way over the country with plenty of good days on the way.

Here's how Met Eireann see the next month going;

Met Eireann's long range forecast

Week 1 (Monday 21 March to Sunday 27 March)

"Pressure is expected to be relatively high through this week bringing a fair deal of settled weather and only small amounts of light showers or drizzle on occasions. So overall much drier than average with only a few mms of rain in parts and some areas seeing nothing. It is expected to be warmer than average with some pleasant warm spring days occurring. Exposed coastal fringes of the east and south at times will be a bit fresher.

"But averaging out warmer than normal for the period countrywide, though still some grass/ground frosts occurring on some of the nights with mist and fog too as winds initially fresh will become lighter."

Week 2 (Monday 28 March to Sunday 03 April)

"Whilst pressure is still on the high side, it is not as well established, and is likely to be a bit more changeable. However, it is still expected to be drier than normal overall. Temperatures will be back to more seasonable values."

Week 3 (Monday 04 April to Sunday 10 April)

"A more unsettled regime for this period with slightly wetter than normal values. Extremes of weather cannot be ruled out at this time of year either. Low pressure will dominate and will probably lie between Iceland and Ireland with an anticyclone dominating the Mediterranean.

"However, it looks like it will be slightly above normal in terms of temperatures in most parts of Ireland, though some coastal fringes of the northwest will have closer to normal temperatures."

Week 4 (Monday 11 April to Sunday 17 April)

"Confidence is much lower at this stage. There is a weak signal for slightly drier than average weather overall with near normal temperatures."
