New England Patriots running back Rhamondre Stevenson is officially listed as questionable to play in Sunday’s game against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
He is still dealing with the foot injury he suffered in the Week 5 game against the Miami Dolphins. The injury kept him out for last week’s game against the Houston Texans.
New England struggled running the ball without Stevenson, who is the clear No. 1 option in the offensive backfield for the team. Here’s the latest news on his injury:

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Patriots expect Stevenson to play in Week 7 against the Jaguars. Schefter pointed out that the Patriots didn’t promote a running back from the practice squad ahead of the game as evidence for Stevenson’s game status.
Stevenson also said he expects to play in the game, when fielding questions from media members during the week.
“I’m feeling like I should be ready to play on Sunday,” Stevenson told reporters.
Patriots running back depth chart
- Rhamondre Stevenson
- Antonio Gibson
- JaMycal Hasty
If Stevenson isn’t able to go on Sunday, that would elevate Antonio Gibson and JaMycal Hasty as the top duo in the backfield for a second straight week. Both provide versatility as runners and receiving backs, but they struggled to get going against Houston last week.
Granted, the Texans have one of the best defensive fronts in the NFL, which could explain the ground game struggles in that matchup. The Patriots also fell behind early and were put in a position where they needed to throw the ball more.
