Is Resetti in Animal Crossing: New Horizons?

Resetti speaking about his new Reset Service in Animal Crossing New Horizons.

Is Resetti in Animal Crossing: New Horizons? It's a big question and anyone who's played an Animal Crossing game before will have been haunted at least once by possibly the ragiest mole in all existence. Mr. Resetti was previously known for giving you grief if you didn't save before quitting the game. But, despite the hard line this mole ran, we still find ourselves wondering where old Resetti has gotten to in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

And with the 3.0 update, the angry mole is officially back, in more than just voice. Now, when you use your NookPhone, you can access Reset Service to task Resetti (Reset-ti, get it?) with cleaning up an area of your island.

Despite losing his job a fair few years back when lead developer Aya Kyogoku said that Resetti "was laid off from his position" in 2019, he was subsequently patched out of Animal Crossing: New Leaf on the 3DS. Brutal. But then the news came from the very same lead developer that Resetti actually has a new job, and that job just so happens to be in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

But, until the 3.0 update, he turned up only via the Rescue Service, helping you if you ever get stuck or as a fast travel system to get from one landmark to another, if you've got 100 Nook Miles to spare. On the app's icon is Resetti's signature whiskey nose and builder's hat.

When you call the Rescue Service, the music and voice is unmistakably Resetti, and he acts as the service's dispatcher, rather than physically appearing in the game.

I hoped that the more you used the Rescue Service the higher the chances of Resetti either a) scolding you like old times (I've got a problem, haven't I?) or b) messing up the dispatch and you ending up in his office. However, no matter how many times I try, I end up where I ask to be. But, the conversation does get heavily laden in Resetti hints, nods and references, even outside of the Rescue Service too.

Just take a look:

In the 3.0 update though, the Reset Service will let you ask Resetti to clean up your entire beach, island, or specific area. You can even ask him to dispose of items that he cleans or to pop them into storage for you. That's right, he's actually helpful now and not just angry. Excellent.
