PlayStation Network went down this morning according to hundreds of reports and Sony itself.
PlayStation's servers enable gamers to connect to the internet and PSN facilitates an additional service, PlayStation Plus. This allows gamers to play with others online.
It also runs the PlayStation Store where users can buy games and PlayStation Direct where consoles and accessories can be ordered. Website Down Detector reported that more than 700 users reported issues with accessing the network between 7-8am this morning.

At around 8.30am, the official PSN Service Status website said: “You might have difficulty launching games, apps, or network features. “We’re working to resolve the issue as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience.”
The Twitter account of online survival game DayZ said at the time: "Dear Survivors, (Console), We are aware of the reports that some servers are down. The origin is on the PlayStation Network. We will update you when services are restored."
Now the site states that all services are up and running, which indicates the issues have been resolved. However, there are still some reports on Down Detector that users are struggling to access the servers.
