Back in January when California elite safety Peyton Woodyard made his verbal commitment to Georgia, many thought Ohio State and his other finalists wouldn’t factor into his recruitment.
As they say in recruiting, it’s not over until the prospect signs and that looks to be the case with Woodyard. Over the spring the defensive back visited Columbus along with Tuscaloosa which had many thinking Woodyard hasn’t made a final decision.
Buy Buckeyes TicketsAccording to this report (subscription required) by 247Sports Greg Biggins, Woodyard most likely will make a few official visits, with Ohio State very much in the running. He said that “if we had to guess, all three schools (Ohio State, Alabama and Georgia) will get official visits.”
That was before today, as Woodyard has made up his mind. He will take an official visit to Columbus on the weekend of June 16th.

Woodyard is regarded as one of the best players in the nation, regardless of position. The 247Sports composite ranks him as the 61st overall player and the 4th best safety in the country. At the current moment, Ohio State does not have a safety commit in the 2024 class.
