Newcastle United are set to ramp up preparations for their upcoming Premier League campaign with two friendlies against German opposition in the coming days. The Magpies will face off against 1860 Munich on Friday afternoon, before taking on Bundesliga side Mainz on Monday.

Eddie Howe's men got their pre-season campaign off to a strong start with a 5-1 behind closed doors win over Gateshead last weekend.

And the Newcastle boss will be hoping his side show more of the same when they take on 1860 Munich out in Austria. Here's everything you need to know ahead of Friday afternoon's pre-season clash.

Who could feature for Newcastle United vs 1860 Munich?

While most of Eddie Howe's first team squad featured in their 5-1 behind closed doors friendly win over Gateshead last weekend, new summer signings Nick Pope and Sven Botman were not involved.

The pair could be set to make their first appearances for Newcastle in the Friday friendly against 1860 Munich. Fabian Schar, Federico Fernandez, Chris Wood, Jamal Lewis and Bruno Guimaraes could also return to action in Austria after missing out on the clash against Gateshead.

Two players who certainly won't feature are Jeff Hendrick and Ciaran Clark, who have joined Championship sides Reading and Sheffield United on loan. Dwight Gayle won't feature either against 1860 Munich as he did not travel with the rest of the Newcastle squad to Austria.
