Is Newcastle Pride free to attend? Event ticketing explained for Northern Pride events

Pride celebrations in Newcastle are just around the corner, with Northern Pride playing host to UK Pride 2022 this month and huge festivities planned across a jam-packed weekend to celebrate the LGBTQ+ community.

As this year marks the first time that Pride celebrations will take place in person since before Covid , many are looking forward to the July events. Here’s everything you need to know about pricing for Pride in the city.

As always, all Pride events are free to attend - with the exception of the launch event on the evening of Friday 22 July. The fundraising event, which takes place on the Town Moor from 5:30pm until 10pm, will feature performances from Todrick Hall, Jodie Harsh and RuPaul’s Drag Race UK star Bimini.

There will also be a set from singer Katy B and BBC Radio 1 DJ Dean McCullough, in what organisers promise will be “an opening night to remember”. There are still tickets available for the event, priced at £29.34 including booking fees for general admission which will get you into the main festival arena with access to the main stage, bar area, food village and funfair.

There is also a Platinum Pass ticket available for the launch event priced at £42.80, which will allow ticket holders access to the Platinum Bar and Garden. This VIP area has a private bar with “premium” drinks, indoor and outdoor seating and front stage access. Platinum Passes are also available for the free events throughout the weekend for those who wish to upgrade their Pride experience.

Individual Platinum Pass tickets are available for both Saturday and Sunday for £25.47 each including booking fees, or a full weekend ticket is priced at £31.59. As with Friday’s launch event a Platinum Pass will give attendees access to their own festival entrance, marquee, private bar and garden area, as well as “posh loos” and the chance to get up close to the stage in the Platinum Pass Circle.

All money raised from Platinum Pass and launch event sales goes towards helping fund the Northern Pride festivities. Supporters can also choose to donate to the charity to help support Pride, with merchandise available to buy on the Northern Pride’s UK Pride online shop - including wristbands for £2 sponsored by Eldon Square which can be used to redeem deals at a range of shops.

All Pride events across Saturday 23 and Sunday 24 July can be attended for free, including the main stage which will see the likes of Mel C, Louise Redknapp, Joe McElderry, Adele Roberts and Choriza May perform. There is also free entry to the rest of the Festival Area which will have food and drink stalls and a funfair.

The Town Moor will play host to different ‘Zones’ and a Community Village across Pride weekend, showcasing the likes of dance and cabaret performances, sports, charities and businesses, all of which will also be free to enter. Attendees don’t need to book a place for any of the events and can just turn up - but be aware that some venues will have capacity levels.
