In just a few days Muslims across the world will begin observing the holy month of Ramadan. For 30 days, Muslims will not be eating or drinking from sunrise to sunset and will be breaking their fast during the evening.
During this time however, Muslims must carry on with their day to day tasks such as going to work or school. One of those aspects of your day to day life that continues is also your social life.
While many may think that going out to eat with your friends may be an issue during Ramadan, it is actually quite the opposite. Many young Muslims see the month as a time for them to spend evenings with their friends by going to restaurants to break their fast together and Nando's is one of those places.
Is Nando's halal?
Nando's is one of the most popular restaurants in the country with hundreds of thousands walking through it's doors for a serving of their signature peri-peri style chicken. That is no different for Muslims in the UK and in 2019 the humungous eatery answered the question regarding which Nando's restaurants are halal in the country.
According to the Nando's website only 79 of their branches serve halal chicken. Out of that 79, there are seven in the Greater Manchester area that are halal.
The branches can be found at, Oxford Road in Manchester CIty Centre, The Trafford Centre, Parrs Wood Entertainment Centre in Didsbury, The Old Town Hall in Oldham, the Elk Mill also in Oldham and the Rochdale Riverside Retail and Leisure Development. Nando's say that a 'small proportion' of halal chicken may be sold in some non-halal restaurants on 'rare occasions' such as supply issues.
