Is Ireland in for a scorching rest of July? Met Eireann's monthly forecast shows exactly what we can expect

Sun worshippers are enjoying one of the hottest weekends of the year as temperatures soar into the mid 20s across Ireland.

And apart from a few heavy showers on Tuesday, high pressure should bring lovely conditions in the coming days.

But what will the weather be like for the rest of the month? Met Eireann revealed we are in for a mixed bag in the coming weeks.

Here's what July is looking like according to the forecaster.

Week 1 - Monday July 11 to Sunday July 17

"High pressure is set to dominate our weather through Week 1 with a largely dry and warm in a mostly light to moderate southwesterly airflow.

"Drier than average conditions are expected throughout the country though light precipitation is possible at times, especially in the north and west. Slightly warmer than average conditions are expected throughout the country. No hazardous conditions are expected at present.

Week 2 - Monday July 18 to Sunday July 24

"For Week 2, a less settled picture is signalled as high pressure becomes more established over mainland Europe with a weaker influence over Ireland. Precipitation amounts will generally be around or less than normal, especially over Leinster and Munster.

Some parts of the north and west could see slightly more than average though. Temperatures will generally be around normal for the time of year, perhaps slightly milder in the southeast. As in Week 1, no hazardous conditions are currently expected."

Week 3 - Monday July 25 to Sunday July 31

"For Week 3, indications are that the high pressure over Europe will decline, with low pressure to the north of Ireland feeding in a more unsettled Atlantic regime. Temperatures will likely be around normal but indications are that precipitation amounts will be above average."

Week 4 - Monday August 1 to Sunday August 7

"As less clearer picture is signalled for Week 4 with high pressure likely for part of the period over mainland Europe with no clear dominating systems for Ireland. Temperatures will likely be around average for the time of year with around or less than average precipitation amounts."
