Hypixel Studios devs repurchased the IP from Riot Games in November 2025, following a cancellation, and had more plot twists than a fantasy epic. It was announced back in 2018 as a Minecraft-inspired sandbox RPG with deep modding, but later it got scooped up by Riot Games.

Will Hytale come to PS5 and Xbox?
Yes, Hytale will come to PS5 and Xbox consoles, but at a later stage, as confirmed on the game’s official FAQ post.
The devs have confirmed in the same post that the early access is exclusive to PC only. In terms of its console release, they’ve said:
“We are planning for a console release at a later stage, but this requires a lot of work on backend systems to make this a reality, so it’s not something we want to invest resources into right now. For now, we would like to focus on making a good game first.”
Why PC first and no consoles at early access
Early access is all about speed and flexibility. So, dropping hotfixes weekly won’t be possible with Sony or Microsoft’s certification red tape, as it can take weeks.
Plus, Hytale has a thriving modding ecosystem for PC, where you can script, model, and share without restrictions. Hypixel devs are prioritizing polishing the game’s exploration, building, and adventure modes with player input first.
Mac and Linux users get love from day one via the launcher, but they haven’t even released the Hytale on Steam yet, as mod features need Valve tweaks. Coming to console ports, these demand optimization for controllers and performance parity, which, in my opinion, is a smart move, considering it’s a game that’s been resurrected from cancellation.
Will Hytale release on mobile?

In their FAQ page, they’ve said. “There will be no mobile version of Hytale for Early Access. We are still evaluating what it would take to make this a feasible reality and will keep you updated once we know more.”
