2024 quarterback Dylan Raiola, the top ranked player in the nation, sent shock waves throughout college football when he announced his commitment to Georgia on Monday.
The 6-foot-3, 220-pound passer out of Phoenix, Arizona, chose Georgia over Nebraska, Oregon and USC.
This commitment raises the question: With the No. 1 player secured, is Georgia in position to flip the nation’s No. 2 player?
Enter Jeremiah Smith, a five-star wide receiver from Opa Locka, Florida, who is committed to Ohio State..
He’s the No. 2 player in America, and he’s been committed to the Buckeyes since December. But now that Raiola is taking his talents to Athens, Smith told Chad Simmons of On3Recruits that he’ll have to take a closer look at UGA.
“Georgia getting Dylan means a lot to me and my interest in them…
I have to really give Georgia a look now that they have Dylan.”
Smith will visit Athens this Friday, per 247Sports.

Remember, Raiola was also committed to Ohio State at one point. Actually, Raiola decommitted from Ohio State just three days after Smith announced his commitment to OSU in December of 2022, suggesting a pre-existing relationship.
Smith is a 6-foot-3, 198 pound receiver who 247Sports calls “one of the most talented wide receiver prospects to come out of South Florida in the modern recruiting era.”
According to Steve Wiltfong, the director of recruiting at 247Sports, if any school has a chance to convince Smith to change his commitment, it would be Georgia.
“If I had to mark a school that was the biggest threat to flip Jeremiah Smith from Ohio State, it would not be Florida — it would be Georgia.”
And he said that on Sunday, a day before Raiola announced his commitment to UGA.
Could you imagine the offenses in Athens if Georgia had the nation’s No. 1 player throwing passes to the nation’s No. 2 player? This is a situation to monitor in the coming months.
“I’m just having fun,” Smith tweeted.
