Is today a federal holiday? Full list of 2026 American holidays

United States Inauguration Memorial Day Thanksgiving
  • Many Americans are gearing up for Easter weekend but they should note that Good Friday and Easter are not federal holidays in the U.S.
  • The U.S. will recognize eleven federal holidays in 2026, one less than 2025, which featured Inauguration Day.
  • The next federal holiday in the U.S. is Memorial Day on Monday, May 25.
  • Friday, June 19, is Juneteenth National Independence Day, and Independence Day will be recognized on Friday, July 3 this year.
  • Other federal holidays include Labor Day, on Monday, Sept. 7, Columbus Day on Monday, Oct. 12, and Veterans Day on Wednesday, Nov. 11. The last two federal holidays of the year are Thanksgiving Day on Thursday, Nov. 26, and Christmas Day on Friday, Dec. 25.
