To be fair, Mazzulla has been better than anyone could have reasonably guessed given the chaos under which he began his tenure as an interim head coach. The move came in the wake of the Ime Udoka scandal and before the wave of injuries he was forced to deal with to kick off the season.

But the postseason is a different beast altogether, and such errors might be the difference between advancing to the 2023 NBA Finals and going home early.
