Archer-Daniels-Midland (NYSE: ADM) delivered one of its strongest quarters in years before the market opened on Aug. 4. But out of the gate, ADM only gained about 1%. The muted reaction could be due to valuation concerns. ADM is up over 35% in 2026, and a nuance in the report could be giving investors pause.
The Q2 2026 numbers were strong, particularly compared to the year before. The company posted adjusted earnings per share (EPS) of $1.84, nearly double last year's 93 cents.
