The NBA’s new in-season tournament (IST) has begun, but it seems that not many people are excited about it. The players don’t seem interested, and even the fans don’t have a strong connection to it. The tournament, which was pushed by NBA Commissioner Adam Silver, features funky courts and new jerseys, but it feels like just another regular season game to some.
The Boston Celtics, who won their first game in the tournament, may have a chance to make it to the championship round, but the real excitement will come if they face off against the defending champion Denver Nuggets in the title game of the IST. The Celtics fan base would be thrilled if they win the tournament, but if they lose, no one will care. The future of the tournament will depend on the outcome of the championship game, and if it doesn’t live up to expectations, people may lose interest.
