Irvine Vics have lost an appeal against their expulsion from the Scottish Junior Cup for fielding an ineligble player.
The Ayrshire West of Scotland League outfit were booted out of the competition last month after Junior football chiefs found them guilty of playing midfielder Chris Jackson in a first round win against Fraserburgh on August 27 while he should have been serving a suspension.
The club lodged an appeal which was finally heard by the SFA last night who upheld the original decision.
Fraserburgh will now play Troon at Portland Park in a second round tie rescheduled for Saturday, October 22.
A spokesman for Irvine Vics told Ayrshire Football News: "We can confirm that our appeal has been dismissed."
It's the second season in a row Vics have been kicked out of the competition. Football chiefs threw the book at them and Pollok last year after a brawl led to a second round tie between the sides being abandoned.
