Colin Spence reckons his new-look Irvine Meadow squad have already passed a test of character – by coming through the first few weeks of pre-season with flying colours.
Medda continued their preparations this week ahead of a friendly at home to Stranraer tomorrow.
And co-boss Spence is delighted with the way his players are shaping up.
Among the new faces put through their paces last week at Almswall Road in Kilwinning were Ross Smith, Ross Urquhart and Ronan Kearney.
Spence said: “It’s been really tough but the boys have dug deep and come through it. That’s the kind of character we will need next season."
Spence is looking forward to Medda testing themselves against SPFL League Two cracks Stranraer who are managed by former Kilmarnock star Jamie Hamill.
He expects Hamill to field a strong team ahead of the Blues' first League Cup group stage game against Queen's Park next weekend.
Spence said: "They are ahead of us in terms of preparation so we will have to be at it. I'm really looking forward to it.
"It's a great chance for the fans to come and see the new faces in the squad."
