Irn Bru van at Harry Styles Edinburgh concert to give away free cans

An Irn-Bru ice cream van will be travelling to Edinburgh today to give away free cans to the public, including those attending Harry Styles' Murrayfield show.

Ahead of its limited edition tour of the nation, the van will be at the Edinburgh spots for just 30 minutes, so thirsty fans will need to be quick if they want to pick up an ice-cold can.

The eye-catching van will first go to Portobello Beach on Friday afternoon where it will be giving away cans of the new summer Irn-Bru XTRA flavours. Those at the beach will be able to try the new Ice Cream and Tropical varieties before the van heads to Murrayfield ahead of the Harry Styles concert.

According to the drinks giant, the Ice Cream flavour is "reminiscent of days spent by the beach, Irn-Bru floats, and grabbing a 99 when the van turns onto your street", with a "hit of nostalgia to welcome in the warmer months".

Meanwhile, the Tropical variety contains a mix of pineapple, passion fruit, and mango flavours. It will take customers on an "instant journey to white sandy beaches lined by palm trees from the convenience of a can".

The limited-edition flavours were inspired by a poll run by Irn-Bru in 2020, where fans whittled four novel flavours down to just two. Tropical came top in the online poll with 5,300 votes, followed by Ice Cream with 4,000.

Marketing Director at A.G. Barr Adrian Troy commented: "The Scottish summer is one of life’s true luxuries - you wait all year for it to arrive and it’s gone before you know it. As limited edition as it gets.

"So we’ve created two exclusive Irn-Bru XTRA flavours to celebrate this much cherished season. But enjoy them while you can, because much like the rays in Scotland - when they’re gone, they’re gone."
