Irishman misses Netherlands comeback v Argentina, extra-time and penalties after leaving match early to 'beat the traffic'

An Irishman missed the Netherlands' dramatic comeback against Argentina after leaving the game early to "beat the traffic".

Former League of Ireland footballer Ciaran Kelly, who lives in Qatar, attended the World Cup quarter-final clash at the Lusail Stadium on Friday evening.

But the ex-Sligo Rovers goalkeeper decided to leave the game before Louis van Gaal's side came from two goals down to draw the match level, meaning he missed extra-time and the penalty shootout, which Argentina won 4-3.
