It is the latest hotel to open its doors to guests in Manchester this week - and the Wilde aparthotel is rather fittingly being launched on St Patrick's Day. For the new hotel, named after one of Ireland's most famous sons Oscar Wilde, has a subtle Irish design theme running throughout it.
The 11-storey aparthotel also boasts incredible views across Manchester from every single one of its rooms. That's because it is based entirely in the top half of a high-rise building it shares with Motel One just off St Peter's Square on Dickinson Street.
The new venue boasts playful nods to Irish playwright, poet and novelist Wilde in every room, with some of his famous books and sayings to be found dotted around the one-bed and studio apartments. You can also expect artistic photo portraits of Irish scenes in every room, while the colour pallet is of subtle greens, with tweed Hare toys sitting on every bed.

The Wilde boasts 256 apartments which are designed for those wanting all the comforts of home, while away, with a kitchen in every room, and you can book for just the one night or for long stays. The business is owned by Irish brothers Tom and Ger Walsh who run the European aparthotel operator Staycity.
The Wilde Aparthotel adds to the company's portfolio of rooms in Manchester, which includes Staycity Aparthotels at Piccadilly and in the Northern Quarter. But Wilde becomes a "more premium" four star hotel style for the brand moving forward.
The opening comes amid something of a hotels boom in the city in recent months with a raft of new openings. In recent weeks that has include the huge new Clayton Manchester hotel on Portland Street, as well as its sister venue The Maldron opening its imposing new-build site off Oxford Road.
It is located just off St Peter’s Square, a near neighbour to the Grade II-listed Central Library and the neo-gothic Town Hall, both of which are close to the celebrated bronze statue of UK suffragette Emmeline Pankhurst. The St Peter's Square tram stop is in front of the property and other key local attractions are within a 5-minute walk.
Views from the upper floors of the new aparthotel, with the top floor on level 20, take in the city's most famous landmarks including both of Manchester's football stadia, and on a clear day, it’s possible to see the Peak District and beyond.
Staycity opened its 182-room aparthotel at Gateway House next to Piccadilly Station in 2017 and says that since then Manchester has become one its most popular destinations. Last summer the company opened another aparthotel in the Northern Quarter offering 224 well-appointed studio and one-bed apartments.
General manager Marie England said of the opening: "I am excited to be part of the opening of this new Wilde, particularly being in such an amazing location which is perfect for visitors wanting to explore Manchester on foot, as well as being central for business travellers. Wilde offers a unique blend of home and luxury hotel and has such an original feel, with sumptuous furnishings and quirky design details that guests will love.”
Interior finishes include natural timber flooring, bespoke joinery, luxury soft furnishings, Hypnos mattresses and Grohe rainfall showers. The apartments have kitchens complete with Smeg and Nespresso appliances, so guests can choose to cook and eat in their apartment or order in a takeaway.
Guests check in to the hotel on the ninth floor, where there is a large, contemporary lounge with bar boasting stunning views across the city. Breakfast, snacks and hot and cold drinks are available to take-out or enjoy in the lounge or the apartments.
The hotel is celebrating its opening with a launch party for invited corporate and VIP guests on St Patrick's Day, and rooms are available to book now. Prices for a studio start from £120 per night and for a one-bed apartment at £195 per night.
