A distraught mother has alleged her son who was critically injured in a horror road crash last weekend “walked out of" hospital in a delirious state.
Kathy Lloyd’s son Simon Edwards (19) was left fighting for his life after the car he was driving collided with a loose horse on the M8 motorway near Cahir, Tipperary, shortly before midnight on Saturday.
The horrified mother, who says her son is still in the “danger zone”, has questions over an alleged incident in which she claims her son “walked out of” Cork University Hospital (CUH) yesterday in a confused state.

“He had no shoes on, just a hospital gown. He was dazed and confused. He didn’t know where he was,” she alleged.
“When I left him yesterday he was sedated, but obviously today he must have woken up, got scared and confused and didn’t know where he was,” Kathy said.
Kathy says she was alerted by the hospital — and was later told her son was found and brought back to A&E.
However, she says she has questions about how this incident allegedly happened.
When contacted, a spokesperson for Cork University Hospital stated that it does not comment on individual cases.
Kathy, a qualified nurse, who was on her way to be with her son in hospital yesterday evening, told this paper her son, who is a geography student in NUI Galway, remained in a critical condition and has a very serious bleed that could get worse.
“At the moment he still has the bleed, what we call a temporal lobe bleed, in the front of the head.
“I’m travelling down to Cork now to find out from the doctors how he is, what has changed, is it for the better.
“I was told he’s still in the danger zone. He’s experienced seizures so if he was to have a seizure again without medication that will kill him.
“In the hospital they are prescribing him something which addresses the seizure issues.
“He is fighting for his life. He’s also smashed all the bones around his left eye.
“We don’t know if he’s lost the sight of that eye. It’s too early to tell. But it’s all about the brain at the moment.
“They’re just observing him hour by hour,” she said.
Kathy says what happened to her son was a freak accident, after a stray horse suddenly ran onto the motorway and collided with the car her son was in.
“He was travelling on the M8 between Junction 10 and 11 with his friends. They were car-sharing.
“His friends, when they got tired, Simon took over the driving and then vice versa.
“While they were on the road it was approaching midnight I believe, and a stray horse came straight out onto the motorway.
“The gardai told me that the horse was killed on impact,” she said.
When emergency services arrived, Simon, who is well known on popular social media app ‘TikTok’ as ‘@justrunnings’ was rushed to hospital, where he was deemed to be in a critical condition.
“When the horse ploughed into this car it managed to peel back the roof of the car.
“When the emergency services came I was told that the fire brigade didn’t have to do much cutting of the roof because the horse had done a lot of damage,” Kathy explained.
The heartbroken mother says she is now hoping to get to her son’s bedside, where she is hoping for better news.
“I’m just trying to get to him now.
“I don’t know now how he is. I can’t answer you what his condition is at this stage.
“But I was told he was in a critical condition.
“He’s a lively young man. He’s quite well known on TikTok and has a lot of connections from that.
“The phone has not stopped ringing.”
