Irish swimmer Daniel Wiffen has smashed the 800m European freestyle.
The County Down man blew away the field at the Irish National Winter Championships to take home first spot and secure a place in the history books.
The 21-year-old, who won silver at the 2022 Commonwealth Games, came home in a time of 7:25.96, smashing the previous record of 7.27.94, which was set by Italian Gregorio Paltrinieri in 2021.

Over two seconds have been taken off the previous record after Wiffen's stunning showing.
To put Wiffen's achievement into greater context, his time of 7.25.96 is just 2.5 seconds short of the current World record.
