Aidomo Emakhu will miss the rest of Millwall’s season because of injury.
The former Shamrock Rovers striker joined the Championship club in January but has had to battle niggling injuries.
Emakhu, 19, has made one league appearance off the bench in a 1-1 draw with Burnley last month.
But he suffered a hamstring injury playing for the Lions’ Under-21s last week and the club claims he will miss the rest of this campaign, with Millwall in playoff contention.
Millwall boss Gary Rowett told London News: “He’s one who hasn’t played loads of 90-minute games and we played him in the Under-21s.
“Towards the end he felt something in his hamstring. At this stage of the season anything more than a small tear is going to leave you out until the end of the season.
“I don’t think it’s too serious, but for him it’s a disappointment. He made an appearance and was around our group in training every day and looked really bright.”
Rowett continued: “He’ll be disappointed but I’m sure he’ll bounce back. It’s been an up-and-down six months for him but he has come from a different league.
“You take the rough with the smooth and you’ve got to use that moving forward into next season. That’s the important bit - it’s what you learn from it.”
