A woman on the 6:00 pm train to Dundalk on Tuesday evening took to Twitter in a panic to ask Irish Rail for help with a passenger on board who was making people nervous.
She took to social media, tagging Irish Rail in her post, and wrote: “On the Dundalk 6:00 pm train there is a drunk guy with a gun tucked into his jeans he’s wobbling and making everyone nervous!!!!
“We are on the 2/3rd last carriage #29324 I think, pls send help???”

Within minutes, Irish Rail responded to the worried passenger and reassured her that help was on the way.
Gardai arrived on the scene and removed the man from the train before confirming that the weapon concealed on his body was in fact a pellet gun.
A garda spokesperson told the Irish Mirror: “Shortly after 6:30 pm on Tuesday, 4th October 2022, Gardaí were alerted following concerns about a male passenger travelling on the Dublin to Dundalk train.
“A man in his 30s was arrested by Gardaí at Malahide Railway Station, Co Dublin, a short time later and taken to Swords Garda Station, a suspected pellet gun was also recovered.
“No one was physically harmed and enquires into the matter are ongoing.”
The same woman then took to Twitter to thank both Irish Rail and An Garda Siochana for their incredibly quick action.
She wrote: “Thank you @irishrail and the guards for such a quick response we were so relieved and grateful for you getting him off without any trouble.”
