Irish people's 'meltdown' after shop marks Tayto and Keogh's crisps as 'British'

An Australian woman took to Twitter to show an “unacceptable” stock error at a shop Down Under that had hundreds of Irish accounts responding in disgust.

Tara Foster, a TV Producer, posted a video to her page saying: “I’m at my local supermarket, and if you’re Irish what I’m about to show you is highly disturbing, so viewer discretion is advised.

“Do better Australia.”

In the video, she shows footage of the local shop selling Tayto and Keogh’s crisps under the British flag - and this had people raging.

Both brands are known as staples of Ireland and are commonly sold across the globe in cities where thousands of Irish reside, as a taste of home.

The widespread anger was only inflated when other Australians revealed most stores lump the two countries together in the food aisle.

One user responded saying: “That is unacceptable... would be like putting Timtams under the NZ flag.”

Another said: “Oh ffs! I’d have a meltdown in store. I hope you told the manager and gave him/her a bit of education.”

A third said she showed the video to her daughter and said: “It was so funny watching her facial expression change as all was revealed!!

“Eyebrows hit the roof and jaw dropped to the floor. I’m sure you’ve suggested they sort it out!”

Hundreds of comments rolled in under the post, some more dramatic than others, as one person said: “I needed a lie down after seeing that....”

A second joked: “I assume you burned the shop down.”
