A budgeting blogger has shared advice she claims will help working families secure over €15,000 in savings in the space of a year.
Caz Mooney, who goes by the Instagram handle @irishbudgeting, cut costs for her family in order to save up for a house deposit. Caz, who has 114,000 followers on Instagram, took three steps to save the big lump sum - enforced a 'no spend year', brought in extra money with side hustles, and lived off one income (after paying for childcare).
She says that taking up side hustles and being willing to innovate for extra income is important. The budgeting expert recommended that people find extra gigs suited to their qualifications and try to sell off unnecessary household items, such as unused furniture.
