Irish man handed genius solution as he tries to solve parcel thief mystery

An Irish man who claims his parcels are being stolen on a consistent basis has been handed a genius solution to solve the mystery that has so far, set him back hundreds of euros.

Venting his frustrations in the Ireland subreddit section 'r/Ireland', he said it is always parcels, never letters that are being stolen, always between Monday and Wednesday, and that it is happening to multiple family members since April/May.

"Nothing illicit, mainly hobby supplies/electronics. Down at least €300 at the moment. What the f*** is going on?!" he wrote on Reddit.

His post, entitled 'Someone's stealing my post' was shared on Monday, and has since gained hundreds of responses with possible solutions for the man who is at a loss as to the culprit, their method and their reasoning.

The highest rated comment said to the man: "Send yourself a GPS tracker." Another person offered the solution of either reporting it, or alternatively, "round up a couple of mates for a sting and plant a fancy package."

Speaking anecdotally, one person said: "Got a ring doorbell for my mother as she’s nervous living alone, best thing ever, the second something comes into the yard she gets a notification, I keep meaning to buy one for myself too, nice to know what’s happening when you aren’t around!"

However, one person joked that the ring doorbell would "just be stolen" in one of the packages when it arrives.

One person said: "It's not arriving at all, which makes me think a postman is enjoying it. Reminds me of the time I bought a 60" tv and [the couriers] 'lost it'. At least I got a refund from that."

To which someone replied: "You should be getting a refund for all of these. Let the sellers argue it out with An Post."

Another commenter urged the man to buy an Apple Tag or equivalent, set it up and then "post it to yourself and see what happens." "Can at least report it to the Garda then, if they’re doing it to you they’re more than likely doing it to someone else," they added.
