Thousands of Irish people with holidays booked to the United States will see their trip get more expensive.
The price of an Electronic System for Travel Authorisation (ESTA) visa has gone up by almost 50% since May 26.
The fee for the ESTA visa, used by incoming tourists into the US, has increased from €13 ($14) to €20 ($21).
ESTAs are the visas that most Irish tourists use to get into America for a stay of up to 90 days.
It's mandatory for visitors to the US travelling under the Visa Waiver Program and the document is then valid for two years.
ESTA allows travellers from 40 countries participating in the Visa Waiver Program to enter the US for a maximum stay of 90 days without having to acquire a visa.

The US Customs and Border Protection announced the fee increase for inbound travellers which is set to remain in place until 2027.
The cost rise is due to the travel promotion portion of the fee increasing from €9.30 ($10) to €15.80 ($17) - as well as a €3.70 ($4) operational fee.
America opened its borders in November 2021 after a 20-month ban imposed on numerous nations in response to the coronavirus pandemic.
