An Irish woman has died in Mallorca following a tragic accident while hiking in the Tramuntana Mountains.
The Serra de Tramuntana is a mountain range that runs southwest to northeast and stretches the length of the Spanish island of Mallorca.
The 75-year-old was with a group of 12 hikers, local reports suggests, when she lost her balance and slipped to her death.
According to the Majorca Bulletin, she suffered fatal injuries after losing her balance and falling ten metres in a steep area of Pas d'en Segarra, near Puig de Roig in Escorca.
She was with a group of 12 hikers, who called for emergency assistance immediately after the incident.
The Mallorca Fire Brigade and Guardia Civil mountain rescue units rushed to the scene, as well as the Guardia helicopter.
When the emergency services arrived at the mountain range, they tried to come to the woman's aid but sadly she was pronounced dead by medics on the scene.
