An international team of astronomers, including researchers from the University of Galway, has hailed the "remarkable discovery" of a newly detected planet, WISPIT 2b.
Estimated to be just five million years old, the celestial body is believed to be a gas giant comparable in size to Jupiter. Its detection marks an early stage of formation around a young star that shares similarities with our own Sun.
