Ireland Weather: Swift change in conditions with arrival of heavy downpours but its not all bad news

Met Eireann’s forecast for Wednesday shows a swift change in conditions with heavy showers for some before a welcome return to warm weather once again.

Tomorrow will bring a mix of scattered showers and sunny spells - with some experiencing heavy showers in the afternoon and evening, mainly in Ulster.

It will become drier across the south and west later in the day as showers become isolated and highest temperatures will reach 20 degrees in a light to moderate westerly breeze.

There'll be clear spells with just isolated light showers on Atlantic coasts tomorrow night with lowest temperatures of 8 to 10 degrees, and northwest winds falling light.

Thursday will be dry for many, but scattered showers will affect coastal parts of the north and northwest mainly, where a few will be heavy.

There'll be some sunshine in the afternoon with fresher than of late with highest temperatures of 15 to 18 degrees in moderate northwesterly winds. Meanwhile, temperatures overnight will be down to 8 to 10 degrees.

Friday will be a similar day, mainly dry with some sunshine in the morning and a few showers in the afternoon, especially in the west and northwest.

Temperatures of 15 to 18 degrees are expected with light to moderate west to northwest winds.

There will be a few more showers near western and northern coasts over the weekend where there will be a good deal of cloud generally, but mostly dry elsewhere with variable cloud cover and some sunny spells.

Temperatures will begin to build again on Saturday into the mid to high teens and will be a little warmer on Sunday at 17 to 21 degrees.

As for farther afield, the Irish forecaster says: “Current indications suggest the early days of next week are set to be mostly dry with more in the way of sunshine and temperatures widely in the high teens to low 20's with light winds.”
