Met Eireann has issued a new weather warning for rain affecting six counties.
The Status Yellow alert is in place from 6pm Sunday until 1am Monday for Carlow, Kilkenny, Laois, Wexford, Wicklow and Waterford.
The national forecaster warned: “Heavy rain at times this evening and early tonight with spot flooding in places.”

The latest alert comes on top of a nationwide weather advisory, which is in place until 7pm Monday for “wet and windy weather that may cause disruption”.
It comes ahead of what is expected to be a washout week. Persistent and heavy rain, turning thundery at times, could cause flooding in parts.
Looking ahead to Monday, Met Eireann said: “Monday will start off mainly dry with sunny spells. Persistent rain will develop in the southwest by early afternoon and will gradually spread northwards through the rest of the day. It will be heavy at times with spot flooding possible. Highest temperatures of 17C to 21C with fresh southeasterly winds.
“Showers or longer spells of rain, heavy in parts, most persistent in southern counties overnight. Good clear spells also. A mild night with lowest temperatures of 12C to 15C in moderate to fresh southeast winds.”
It will be more of the same for the rest of the working week.
The meteorological service continued: “A mix of sunny spells and scattered showers on Tuesday. Once again, some of the showers will likely turn heavy, merging to longer spells of rain in places. Highest temperatures of 16C to 19C in moderate to fresh southeasterly winds.
“Showers will continue into Tuesday night, interspersed with clear spells. Overnight lows of 12C to 14C with easterly winds easing mainly light.
“Further spells of showery rain on Wednesday, persistent at times, and likely turning heavy or thundery in the afternoon. Some sunny spells will be mixed in between. Highest temperatures of 17C to 19C with light variable winds.
“Thursday will bring quite widespread showers with some bright periods. Light to moderate northwest or variable winds. Highest temperatures of 16C to 19C.”
It said early indications for next weekend show that showers will be less heavy and not as widespread on Friday and Saturday, with better dry spells likely then. Winds will be mainly light too with daytime temperatures staying in the high teens.
