Ireland weather: Met Eireann pinpoints arrival of 30C heat as fresh high pressure system hurtles towards Ireland

The country is set to bask in blistering temperatures of up to 30 degrees over the weekend as a fresh high-pressure system brings stunning weather.

Ireland’s share of the current heatwave being experienced in Europe is a welcome arrival, however, some countries are experiencing record-breaking temperatures reaching an uncomfortable 40C.

Carlow Weather expert Alan O’Reilly says the latest weather charts predict that a hot plume of air will arrive over the weekend and will extend into Monday.

Ahead of the beautiful weekend in store, there are a few moments of rain and dull weather to come, so here’s the full forecast for this week.

Today, July 13, will be dry with sunny spells developing across Leinster and Munster but it will be cloudier with scattered showers in Connacht and Ulster.

A few showers will drift into north Leinster and Munster during the evening and highest temperatures will range between 15 degrees in the northwest and 22 degrees in the southeast.

On Thursday, most areas will be dry with sunny spells in the morning, although scattered showers will continue to affect Ulster.

It will generally become cloudier in the afternoon and evening and showers will spread further south with highest temperatures of 22 degrees - warmest in the southeast.

Friday will then be mostly cloudy with scattered light showers, but it will brighten up through the afternoon and evening with warm sunny spells.

Highest temperatures of 23 degrees are expected, but it will be cooler along north-facing coasts due to a light to moderate north to northwest breeze.

Saturday morning will be dry with spells of hazy sunshine, however, it will become cloudy at times during the afternoon and evening with isolated showers possible.

It’ll be another warm day with highs of 20 to 25 degrees in light south to southeast breeze.

Sunday and Monday will be dry with hazy sunshine and light winds.

It’ll be very warm or hot, according to Met Eireann, as temperatures widely reach the mid-twenties and possibly the high twenties in some places.
