Ireland weather: Met Eireann pinpoint arrival of sun and clear skies before big change

Met Eireann has pinpointed the arrival of clear skies this weekend as many plans are hampered as a result of incoming showers.

While Friday and Sunday are due to be a washout, with heavy rain and slightly lower temperatures, Saturday looks set to be stunning.

According to the most recent forecast, any lingering mist and fog will clear to leave a dry morning in most areas with varying cloud cover and some sunny intervals.

However, a few showers will kick in in the east as the day goes on followed by some sunny intervals and showers through the afternoon and evening.

In some other areas, showers will be heavy while temperatures range from 15 to 19 degrees, in a light to moderate northeasterly wind.

Saturday is due to see the best weather, with dry and sunny conditions expected with clear skies across most of the country.

There will be a few unlucky areas that will see some showers arriving in - which may push in to southern coastal counties at times.

Highest temperatures will range from 14 to 20 degrees - coolest along the east coast.

It will continue to be dry and clear in most areas into the night, with isolated showers pushing into the south.

There is some uncertainty for Sunday at this point, but indications are that rain will extend northwards across the country, turning heavy in places.

Highest temperatures of 14 to 19 degrees are expected, coolest in the east and southeast, with light to moderate easterly breezes.

As for next week, the Irish forecaster says “Current indications suggest that the weather will become more unsettled from Tuesday onwards with spells of rain spreading from the southwest.

“Temperatures will be in the high teens or low twenties.”
