Ireland weather: Met Eireann issue great weekend update but warn that 'unsettled' spell on the way

Met Eireann have warned that an 'unsettled' spell is looming - but not for a few days as they issued another glorious weekend update.

Things have finally seemed to settle down a bit in the last couple of days after we had thunderstorms and heatwaves earlier in August.

Temperatures are floating between the high teens and low twenties, we've had relatively sunny skies with just the odd rain shower and crucially, there's a bit of wind about the place.

That is a similar situation to what we're going to see over the weekend, but there could be a bad twist coming in the middle of next week.

Met Éireann issue three daily updates with their latest forecasts from models and charts available to them.

They say that Friday will start cloudy before clearing later in the evening, noting that there will be some outbreaks of "showery rain" on the eastern coast. "Highest temperatures will reach 15 to 20C." the forecast adds.

Saturday will again start cloudy across Connacht and Ulster, though that will be accompanied by occasional outbreaks of rain throughout the day, the forecast reads. For everyone else, it will stay "mostly dry with decent sunny spells. Highest temperatures will range from 17 to 21C"

Sunday continues the good spell, with temperatures coming up a little higher, reaching a max of 22C.

Met Éireann say: "Most areas will stay dry with varying cloud cover allowing some bright spells. Just isolated showers, mainly in the south, while it will be warmest in the west and midlands."

Monday and Tuesday will be mainly dry as the warm spell continues with temperatures once again reaching highs of 22C - but it's after that that things start to turn.

Though the models and charts are a bit unclear at this time, Met Éireann finish their update by saying: "Conditions are expected to become more a bit more unsettled from Wednesday as low pressure moves in. Daytime temperatures will continue to reach the high teens to low twenties"
