Ireland weather: Met Eireann forecasts return of heat as temperatures soar back into the 20s soon

Met Eireann’s latest forecast has pinpointed a return of high temperatures and milder conditions next week, as things take a brief grim turn this weekend.

From tonight, Ulster and Connacht will become cloudier with an increase in showers - some of which will push further southeast later in the night.

Temperatures will drop to between 6 and 10 degrees in light to moderate west to northwest breezes.

Sunday will start fairly cloudy with scattered rain as well, but these showers will die away through the morning leaving behind mostly dry and bright conditions in the afternoon.

Some decent sunny intervals will begin to develop with highest temperatures of 14 to 19 degrees, coolest in the northwest, in moderate to fresh northerly breezes.

Heading into next week, the Irish forecaster says we can expect “changeable weather, but there will be a good deal of dry weather at times, especially in the south and east. Turning milder with temperatures getting up to high teens or low twenties.”

Monday will start off dry with good spells of sunshine, however, it will become cloudier from the northwest later with some patchy drizzle developing on the coasts.

Highest temperatures will range from 17 to 22 degrees, and it will be warmest over Munster and Leinster in light breezes.

Some sunny spells will kick off the day on Tuesday in the southeast. It’s due to be cloudier elsewhere with rain continuing to move across the country, but it will break up as it does so with some sunny spells and well-scattered showers following.

Highest temperatures will range from 16 to 21 degrees in light northwesterly breezes.

Wednesday will see a good deal of cloud at first with occasional sunny spells.

It’ll be a dry day for most with well-scattered rain will but more widespread sunny spells will develop towards evening.

Highest temperatures will range from 15 to 20 degrees in a light to moderate northwesterly breeze.

As for the following weekend, the forecast states that “current indications suggest that it will be generally dry in the south and east on Thursday with light rain and drizzle in the north and west. A band of rain is expected to cross the country on Friday. Sunny spells and showers are then expected for next weekend.”
