Ireland weather: Met Eireann forecasts rain-soaked few days ahead of stunning weekend change

Met Eireann has forecast a few days of rainy conditions ahead of a beautiful weekend ahead with temperatures reaching 19C in some areas.

Despite the showery weather moving across Ireland, temperatures are set to remain mild from today with highs of 18C alongside light rain.

On Wednesday morning, the forecast says it will be cloudy with well-scattered patches of light rain and drizzle.

Things will begin to brighten up and become dry through the afternoon with spells of sunshine developing.

It will be feeling mild and humid with the highest temperatures of 14 to 18 degrees but will be a little cooler in the north and northwest in light to moderate northwesterly breezes.

There will be a good deal of dry weather tonight with clear spells, however, clouds will build slightly overnight, with patchy light rain and drizzle developing in the west and north.

Some patches of mist and fog will develop also and lowest temperatures of 7 to 10 degrees are expected in light southwesterly winds.

Thursday will start largely cloudy in the west and north with patchy light rain, though it will be a drier and brighter morning elsewhere with sunny spells and isolated showers.

It will become cloudier across the country by afternoon with outbreaks of showery rain developing.

However, it will be another warm and humid day with highest temperatures of 14 to 18 degrees in light to moderate southwesterly winds.

It’s then due to be a wet day on Friday but will dry and brighten up over the weekend - staying warm also with daytime temperatures in the mid to high teens.

Thursday night will be a cloudy night with outbreaks of rain and drizzle spreading across the country, turning heavier and more persistent in the west and north towards morning.

However, the southeast and east will stay dry and mild with lowest temperatures of 9 to 12 degrees in light to moderate southwesterly winds.

Friday is going to be another cloudy and wet day to start, with outbreaks of rain occasionally turning heavy.

The rain will clear to the east through the afternoon and evening, with sunny spells and just a few light showers following from the west.

Highest temperatures will range from 14 to 17 degrees in light to moderate westerly winds.

Friday night will be dry with long clear spells and isolated showers but will become misty and foggy in places overnight in a light variable breeze with lowest temperatures of 5 to 10 degrees.

Saturday will see mist and fog clear in the morning to leave a dry day for most with spells of sunshine, though a few light showers will develop in the afternoon with highs of 18 degrees in light winds.

Saturday night will feature dry and clear spells, though it will turn cloudier towards morning.

Lowest temperatures will range from 6 to 11 degrees with mist and fog developing in places.

Sunday will once again be largely dry with sunny spells, though there may be occasional patches of light rain in the west and north which temperatures reach 19C.

As for early next week, the forecaster currently says it will be “staying mild for the early days of next week with spells of rain at times.”
