Ireland is set to see a mainly dry and sunny end to the week as conditions remain rather mild.
However, as the day continues, shattered showers will spread across the country, turning heavy at times.
A forecaster said on Thursday night: “Showers becoming confined to Western areas with clear skies developing and temperatures dropping back late tonight. Showers in West Friday but good sunny spells for many. Turning cold tomorrow night with frost Friday night.”

Temperatures are also set to plummet over the weekend, hitting lows of -1 degrees tonight.

Most areas will be bright, breezy and dry with good sunny spells today. However, outbreaks of rain will continue on northeastern fringes, while scattered showers are likely in the southwest and may turn heavy at times.
Highest temperatures of 7 to 10 degrees in moderate to fresh westerly winds.
Tonight will start cold, dry and clear with just a few mist patches. Some frost will develop inland as temperatures fall to between -1 and +3 degrees in light variable breezes, though cloud will build in the west towards morning, and temperatures there will rise also.
While tomorrow morning will start off dry and bright in the east, outbreaks of rain will extend from the Atlantic through the morning, spreading to all parts by evening and turning heavy at times. It will be blustery, too, with fresh to strong and gusty southerly winds.
Highest temperatures of 6 to 11 degrees, mildest along southern and western coasts.
A clearance to scattered showers will extend from the west by evening while winds veer westerly and moderate.
Any residual rain will clear the east early in the night, while scattered showers will extend over the western half of the country.
However, it will turn mostly dry and clear in the east. Lowest temperatures of 3 to 6 degrees in a moderate to fresh and blustery westerly wind.

Clear spells early in the night with a touch of grass frost possible in Ulster as lows dip to between 1 and 4 degrees, but it will be milder in the southwest, where rain will extend from the Atlantic early in the night.
The rain, which will be heavy at times, along with moderate to fresh southeasterly winds, will extend across the country through the night, reaching the northeast by morning.
It will be a wet start to Monday morning across the country, the rain will gradually clear from the southwest through the morning, although sunny spells and scattered showers will follow, and they may merge into longer spells of rain at times.
Highest temperatures of 6 to 10 degrees in mostly light to moderate west to southwest winds, veering strong northwesterly in the southwest later.
Showery outbreaks of rain, along with strong and gusty northwest winds, will clear the southwest early in the night, leaving primarily dry and clear conditions and light northerly winds. Some patchy frost may develop as temperatures drop to between -1 and + 4 degrees generally.
After a bright, dry and cool start on Tuesday, cloud will extend from the southwest through the afternoon as light to moderate winds become southerly before a band of rain extends from the southwest through the evening.
Highest afternoon temperatures will range from 6 to 10 degrees, remaining coolest in the east.
Staying cool and unsettled with further spells of wet and windy weather possible.
