Met Eireann has pinpointed the next hot spell to hit Ireland with high pressure set to dominate as August winds to a close.
According to the Irish forecaster’s long-range prediction, from Friday to next Thursday, the sun will return with above-average temperatures and below-average rainfall.
“High pressure looks set to dominate the weather picture next week with temperatures slightly above normal for the time of year and below average rainfall amounts,” it says.

Despite this, showery conditions will be felt across eastern counties on Friday with a rather cloudy start to the day. The main outbreaks of rain and drizzle will take place over the eastern half of the country, and will linger through the morning as sunny spells develop further west.
Showery rain will continue in eastern coastal counties during the afternoon, with a chance of heavy rain locally, but it will be drier and brighter elsewhere with sunny spells.
Things will clear up in the east on Saturday, with wet conditions travelling northwest and west with occasional drizzle possible near coastal parts.
Elsewhere it will be mostly sunny with highest temperatures will range 15 to 21 degrees - warmest away from the northwest.
Most areas will be dry on Sunday with varying cloud cover allowing some bright spells, and just isolated light showers.
Highest temperatures will reach 23 degrees in light easterly breezes.
Heading into next weeks the nice weather is set to continue with “little change with good sunny spells and just light easterlies. It will be warmest away from eastern fringes.”
