The weather is set to get a lot better than it has been in the next few days as warmer air moves in over Ireland.
Temperatures dipped as low as -3C in some places overnight but by the middle of the next week they'll have jumped to 17C in the day time.
But before that, there will be another extremely cold night ahead.
A Met Eireann forecaster said: "Today will start out sunny with cloud building in the afternoon bringing a few light showers. Highest temperatures of 7 to 10 degrees with light northwest or variable winds, becoming southerly by the end of the day.
"Showers will die out and tonight will be mainly dry and clear with temperatures below freezing for much of the country. Cloud will build in the west later with rain developing on southwest coasts by morning. Lowest temperatures minus 2 to plus 2 degrees with light southerly winds freshening and becoming strong southeast in the southwest by morning.
"Mostly cloudy tomorrow, Sunday, most places will be dry with rain developing in the southwest. Highest temperatures of 8 degrees in the north to 12 degrees in the southwest in freshening southeast winds.
"Rather windy on Sunday night with outbreaks of rain in the south and west. Lowest temperatures of 6 or 7 degrees in fresh to strong east or southeast winds."
But next week will be much milder, albeit with wet and windy conditions at times.
Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday will all see temperatures move up into the high teens with some nice spells of sunshine too.
A forecaster said: " On Tuesday there'll be sunny spells and afternoon showers, some of the showers heavy. Highest temperatures of 13 to 16 degrees in light southerly winds. The higher temperatures away from east and south facing coasts. Temperatures overnight between 4 degrees in the north and 8 degrees in the south.
"A similar day on Wednesday, sunny spells and scattered afternoon showers. Temperatures up to 16 degrees in the afternoon and down to 8 or 9 degrees overnight in light southerly winds.
"The indications for the further outlook is for unsettled conditions with rain at times and temperatures between 15 and 17 degrees."
